Neighborhood Inclusivity

OVERVIEW

The i-team partnered with Neighborhood Councils and residents to better understand what community members wanted to know about their neighborhood and City and then, to help residents access this information in a user-friendly way. The Welcome to the Neighborhood Toolkit created as a pilot project explores ways to inform Angelenos of the various city services offered in each neighborhood and the different ways that existing residents and ‘recent newcomers’ can proactively engage with each other, neighborhood businesses, City agencies, and elected officials.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WE’RE TRYING TO SOLVE?

Residents are often uninformed about the many services provided by the City of Los Angeles and ways to access these services as opportunities to get more involved in their community.

WHAT IS THE INITIATIVE

A postcard was designed in partnership with residents and the Neighborhood Council. This postcard was rolled out with the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment and intended to reach residents with information about the many ways to get involved and make an impact. The postcard was designed in a user-friendly way so that it could eventually be rolled out citywide allowing Neighborhood Councils to customize messaging and use the designed templates in a way that resonates with their residents.
