Creating an Online Portal for Business Owners
The i-team, partnered with the Mayors Office of Economic Development and other Departments and businesses throughout the City, have designed and developed the Los Angeles Business Portal and Start-Up In A Day Guide. Leveraging the Start Up in a Day prize money awarded to Los Angeles from the Small Business Administration, the portal will launch in Fall 2016. The Los Angeles Business Portal is a mobile optimized, open source, web-based platform that simplifies the process of planning, managing, and growing a business in the City of Los Angeles, thereby reducing the barriers to entry for LA-centered entrepreneurs and making Los Angeles a more friendly place to do business.
With the help of the Portal, prospective entrepreneurs will now have a single point of entry into the city process and will be given a customized roadmap to follow in starting, registering, and growing their business. By providing Angelenos a simple and effective path to business ownership and a secured livelihood, the i-team hopes to see business registration numbers and customer satisfaction increase year over year. The team worked closely with businesses to design and test the site. The beta version launched on May 2 and is available at http://www.business.lacity.org.
“When I started my business, it was challenging finding the right direction to get us started and I was worried I may have missed a vital step. I’m so glad the Business Portal now provides all the information in one place.”
