OVERVIEW

Using a low-cost Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, the i-team created an online resource that allows for consistent tracking of youth program graduates so that staff are able to remain in contact with all alumni via email, keeping them informed of department events and employment opportunities. It will also allow staff to track interest in joining the LAPD so they can encourage graduates who are 21 and over to apply to be an LAPD sworn officer.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WE’RE TRYING TO SOLVE?

LAPD program alumni have often lost contact with the department because they graduate before they are age-eligible to become a sworn officer and continue with their studies and their lives. At the same time, the department has not had access to modern tools to simplify and automate tracking of this important information making it difficult to keep in touch with program alumni.

WHAT IS THE INITIATIVE

This database will allow alumni of LAPD programs to hear from the City when job opportunities arise or if there are special opportunities they might benefit from.
